About Orchard & Vine
Orchard & Vine is a slow Australian country lifestyle journal from Mudgee, NSW, created from a season of beginning again.
I’m Jaimee, a wife, mother of three, former city girl, and someone who has been quietly changed by country life.
Before Mudgee, life felt busy all the time. And if I wasn’t busy, I felt like I wasn’t doing enough.
I spent more time out of the house than in it, dragging babies from coffee dates to errands, running my own business, starting a law degree, and trying to keep up with the life I thought I was meant to be building.
Full, busy, stretched.
Somewhere along the way, I had started measuring my worth by how much I could carry.
I remember there was this one old back road I used to drive. The kind with open paddocks, a chicken farm, and a beautiful old country house sitting up on the hill. Every time I drove it, something in me softened. I couldn’t explain the feeling. The air just felt lighter. I would slow down just to make it last longer, sometimes even stop the car, and let Brax watch the cows.
I didn’t know it then, but I think that was the start of me longing for a different life.
Then we moved to Mudgee, and that feeling found somewhere to land.
Country life gave me things I didn’t know I needed. Slower mornings. Lighter air. Beauty in ordinary moments. Friendships that feel easy. Women who have inspired me to be calmer, more thoughtful and more open. A community that seems to understand the quiet power of showing up for each other.
Not for praise. Not for return. Just because kindness makes everything better.
It has changed the way I see home. The way I see motherhood. The way I see my children and the kind of life I want to build around them.
Orchard & Vine is my way of honouring that.
What Orchard & Vine is becoming
Here, I share the process of making our country house feel warm, gathered and lived-in. The food we cook, the rooms we slowly shape, the garden dreams, the animals, the old furniture, the family rituals, the muddy boots, the honest motherhood, and the small moments that make ordinary life feel beautiful again.
I’m not here to show a perfect life.
I’m here to show that you can begin again. That if the season you’re in feels heavy, rushed or disconnected, there may be another way. Maybe it starts with a weekend in the country. Maybe it becomes a tree change. Maybe it is simply listening to the part of you that knows where the air feels lighter.
The quiet truth is, I am still doing this for me.
I want to live a life that feels intentional and meaningful. One that sees the bigger picture. One that Hayden and I can look back on when we are sixty and feel proud of. Proud that we were brave enough to make a change when we wanted more from life. Proud that we chose something softer, not just for ourselves, but for our children too.
Because this is the life we are building around them.
Orchard & Vine is a record of that becoming.
